GROTTAMMARE

Il mare turchese al largo di Grottammare
Grottammare e le sue caverne marine piene di echi
sull ‘Adriatico.
L’eco del canto delle sirene
ancora mi giunge
all’interno del treno silenzioso.
Ancora una volta le voci perdute
chiamano dalle
profondità del mare.

Ah ma
naturalmente
tutto è un’illusione.
La nebbia aleggia greve
tra gli ulivi.
Secondo l’orologio è già mattina
ma non secondo la luce
che esiste solo nelle nostre menti.

Uomini e donne dormono
nella loro solita tenebra.
Solo la luce
addormentata nei loro occhi
ci dà un presagio
di un futuro iridescente
di un destino incandescente.

Mentre in distanza
oltre le isole lontane
il mare rimanda
la sua turchese risposta.

Turquoise sea off Grottamare
Grottammare with its sea caves
echoing
along the Adriatic.
Echo of siren song
still reaches me
inside the silent train
once more the lost voices calling
undersea.

Ah, but
naturally
all is illusion.
The fog still lies heavily
in the olive trees.
Dawn is made by the clock
and not by light
which only exists in our minds.

Men and women sleep
in their usual darkness.
Only the light
asleep in their eyes
gives any hint
of an iridescent future
of an incandescent destiny.

Only far off
beyond the far islands
the sea sends back
its turquoise answer.
